Coimbatore has a large motor and engineering industry and plenty of places that sell used car parts. The difficulty is not finding a seller, it is finding the right part, in the right condition, at a fair price, without spending a day travelling between shops.
Start with the details of your car
Before you contact anyone, note your car's make, model, year, fuel type and variant, and take a clear photo of the old part. If the part has a number on it, note that too. This is the information any seller needs to confirm the part fits.
Do not rely on one shop
The same part can be quoted at very different prices by different sellers, mostly because of its condition and which car it came from. Getting several quotes shows you the normal range and makes a very low or very high quote easy to spot.
Compare like with like
A cheaper quote is often a lower grade, not a better deal. Compare the same part at the same grade, and ask what the return terms are. Grade A is near-new, Grade B is good working condition, and Grade C is functional with visible wear.
Ask where the part came from
A genuine seller can say which car the part was taken from and why that car was scrapped. If a seller cannot or will not say, treat that as a warning, especially for electrical parts and control units.
Check before you pay and again when it arrives
Ask for photos of the actual part. When it arrives, compare it with your old part before it is fitted. Read our checklist on how to check a used part before you pay for the full list.
One enquiry instead of many trips
On Xspare you submit one free enquiry with your car and the part you need. It goes to verified vendors near you, and their quotes come back with a price and a grade, so you can compare them in one place and choose, without travelling from shop to shop.
